stasis:

hey there blogger. so i woke up today at 7 when my alarm went off, but felt compelled to enjoy the sunshine and my fiance sleeping and the comfy sheets so i stayed in bed- but didn't really sleep any more until about 10 or 11. lots of meditation & constructive rest. then i got up finally and made our breakfast (coffee & joe's o's- tomorrow is grocery day). then i talked to mom, checked emails and got business done while ror got up and showered and put on Price is Right (my favorite). then i helped him learn lines, got ready myself (netti potted FINALLY- spring has sprung in my poor little sinuses), and we left for the day. he to class and i to the coffee shop for a peaceful & sunny lunch & coffee and enough serenity & energy to get work done. here i wrote my article response and answered more emails and worked on my verbs for Elves. now i'm blogging- then getting half of my sammy to go and heading to Nova for our first full cast Elves rehearsal- then ANnie tonight. last three shows. the thesis is: life is so very good. i mean- SO very good. its busy and chaotic, sure... but it is just SO. Very. Good.

song of the day:

"get back" beatles

daily zen:

(more theatre zen- i LOVE stacy wolf. this is from her article: "in defense of pleasure" about the merit of musical theater)

"Use pleasure as a way in. One of the oft-repeated critiques of musical theatre studies is that accolades and fandom stand in for the analysis, historicization, and theorizing expected of “regular” theatre histories. As educators, I believe that it is our duty to respect and draw out students’ preferences and passions and to consider their feelings as being socially contingent, historically grounded, and, in the words of Bourdieu, 'habitus-based'."

or

"pleasure motivates."
