hello blog.
of course i missed you- but things are in a crazy flux so i needed a little time to regroup. i have decided to write. of course i decided to write. remember (although you probably don't- it's been a long time) when i started this blog it was because i was deep into the artist's way (a book that i still need to finish- and probably won't until 2012- or post-MFA) and it told me to write something everyday. and it works. i feel good. i feel creative, connected and powerful from just writing anything everyday. so i am back and i will blog. maybe i'll shake up the format: new city, new degree, new adventures = new blog.. but i'll keep the gratitude because if you can't be grateful for 5 things on a daily basis you need to stop and take care of that before you can blog about anything else. you being me of course.
and what a grand place to begin anew with this project- the morning of my departure a) from my beloved Philadelphia, b) onto the road for ten days of driving cross country, and c) for our pre-wedding honeymoon. (rory and i are getting married between semesters, this happens when one of the people involved is a perpetual student... so there's a time crunch but we are also both students in the process of launching- so we're also poor as church mice. so we decided to make our cross country trip into our honeymoon, and then in january after our wedding when we're back in san diego, rory visiting of course, we're going to spend a few days in catalina as a post-wedding-mini-moon.)
alright- so here begins the adventure.
i got up this morning and cleaned rory's apartment for him so that it would be a sweet treat, not only to wake up to but also to come home to in september, and now as i finish this i'm going to wake him up and head out to get breakfast, then we're seeing cait to say bye and then jessica & ian to say bye- and then we're on the road to CLEVELAND, OHIO. stop # 1.
i'll keep you posted.
and yes i do feel a correlation- cheesy as it is- between my journey and elizabeth gilbert's journey as the movie version of my favorite book prepares to launch august 13th.
daily gratitude:
1- the amazing adventure i have had in philadelphia since bravely moving here in 2002.
2- my incredible friends who love me enough to push me out of the nest with all their hearts and promise to be waiting when i fly back
3- my beautiful family who really are my best friends in the world, who love and support me in ways i can only understand little by little as a grow up and in grand sweeping ways that make it possible for me to make it day to day and minute to minute
4- my unbelievable fiance, who is more beautiful (inside & out), generously loving, fiercely loyal and unendingly supportive than i could have ever dreamed. i can't wait to marry him this christams
5- my new city- my new adventure- the chance to meet myself and my art and the next chapter of my life brand new in san diego.
